13 Mar. In spite of heavy rains for past
24 hours entered Canyon at 0830
to study Microtus habits. Proceeded
by road to slope behind Fish
and Game laboratory. There
plot set up and runways and
burrows partially exposed. Light
rains throughout morning. Study
concluded at 1100. Walked
by various trails from Botanical
Gardens to Panoramic Way
between 1200 and 1330. Heavy
rain. Large numbers of earth-
worms everywhere, especially
in stream bed. Several slugs
abroad also. Is it possible
rainy weather causes nocturnal
cod Conditions in animal
