Tonight we are staying at Senor Angel Guymeins "home" at Huanacastle (I think this is the name of his home) Dec 20 In the morning we asked our "guide" (10 pesos a day, guide plus boat) where our boat was - could not understand him - and he said it did not come yet. We left Huanacastle and went about 1 mile North of there and established camp. After more or less settling, Hamilton, Maher and myself each went our own way to explore the area. The vegetation is too dense to make any real progress through and for a long distance it is not advisable. The only clearings, not really paths, are those made by the cows that are running loose in the hills. In my travels I saw a large (about 5" diameter), long 4-5 ft., snake coloration all black. Tried to catch it but in the dense growth the snake was faster than I was. At about 1:00 Hamilton went out for a bird and came back in about 15 minutes with a rodent I believe to be Sigmodon ?
