when we hoped to find mangrove trees and swamps
to make a study of its fauna. Since it
was late and not much more could be
accomplished we threw down our sleeping's
bag and "hit the sack." All birds seen
(nearly all) were new to me. On way between
Nogales and Mazatlan we saw Black, [illegible]
and turkey vultures, Caracaras, ravens,
vermilion flycatcher, magpie jays, panto,
roadside hawks, cowbirds, red tailed hawk
On the morning of the 19th we crossed for
took a reconnaissance of the area and
saw a few mangroves. Along the way
(in the area of Tecapan) we saw three kinds
of doves (draco, white wins and ground)
shoveler ducks, black necked stilt, jacana,
white egrets
On my walk here I turned over a log and
found a "Hyla" like tree frog and a
Redivisid bug. Saw may Haleconid
butterflies (black and yellow striped
