near Bangkok was given alive to Dr. Pearson
of M.V.Z., but the tree shrew did in captivity on
June 27 and was prepared as a study skin while
the entire skeleton was also saved. The date of
original capture is not known.
July 3.
A bedding ground squirrel was shot with a .22
rifle slug at Sagehen Creek basin. Left a slight
hole in the skin but skull and skin saved and in
good condition.
July 5
A female chipmunk was found dead in a
live trap set out in hopes of catching a weasel. The
death bedding ground squirrel was used for bait. The
chipmunk was dead in the morning since the temperature
got down to 23°F the previous night.
July 15
A gazing upon checking my cotton supply in the laboratory
at Sagehen Camp, I noticed that much of the cotton had
been torn into small pieces, then I noticed the
cotton move. A Peromyscus had made its home here.
This mouse was later prepared as a study skin.
July 17
On way to Truckee from Sagehen Basin a
bedding ground squirrel was found near the
bridge crossing Crosser Creek. The squirrel
was put up on July 18.
July 7
The golden mantled ground squirrel found
death on the road on July 7, 1955 was prepared as
a study skin on July 20. The skull was not
worth saving.
