June 16 Westvaco Mines Santa Clara Co. Calif.
Inquired about bats and mine shafts.
A Mr. McPeters? (with son Jimmy) told us he could
not give us permission to enter any of the mine
shafts but that some of the closed-down living
quarters near by had bats and that we could look
there if we wished. His son Jimmy (about 10 or 11)
showed us around and showed where he
had seen bats. We found bats in between
the 2 x 4s and siding and kittling the boards.
To get them out. After a while they started
coming out and we started catching them. The
majority were Antrozous pallidus (about 12)
were caught while four were Eptesicus
fuscus and one Tadarida mexicana all
in one building.
June 18 1 mi. SE Inverness, ±25 ft., Marin Co., Calif.
