Marrow?Ranch ±1450 ft., 5.3 mi. N.E. Capetown, Humboldt Co., Calif.
and then to Fernbridge and here turned off
101 to go west to Ferndale and Capetown.
After leaving Ferndale we started looking for red
tree mice in the Douglas Fir trees. Along the
road, was a logging road sign stated "no
trespassing, Marrow? Ranch" [not sure about the Marrow]
we climbed a tree and caught two Phenacomys
At this same locality we found a nest with Two
adults and three young tree mice. Driving along
the road we found another nest with one subadult
at 3.2 mi., N.W. Petrolia, and still another nest
with one subadult at 5.2 mi., S.E. Petrolia. Then
we passed through Upper Mettale and Honeydew
which are both logging camps. The road is very
rough and becomes very steep beyond Honeydew.
At the top of a knoll we took a fork to the west;
this fork was across a large "airstrip clearing"
