E M Brock 1956 Journal May 18 1.3 mi. E Gardiner, Douglas Co., Oregon. Found a large pile of logs on which the bark was peeling. Much of the wood underneath was rotten and damp. It was under this bark that two Anceles like salamanders were found. Also found in this habitat were three alligator lizards. One garter snake got away but had also been under the bark. Fifty snap traps were placed out along a small stream, elev. ±10 ft. May 19 Tahkenitch Camp, Tahkenitch Lake, Douglas Co., Oregon Picked up the traps at Gardiner and had one very small shrew #267, one marsh shrew, one Peromyscus and three Zapus. We decided to break camp and prepare the specimens in a more favorable environment. We packed and went north for about 7 miles where we are now camped in the Tahkenitch public Campgrounds. In my search around the marshy surrounding area I found two garter snakes and two red legged frogs. Tonight there have been 67 snap traps set out in marshy areas and next to a small stream in hopes of catching shrews. This camp is 6 miles north of Gardiner. May 20 On last night's traps, Two Sorex, two Zapus and two Peromyscus were caught. While checking the traps two red legged frogs were taken. Last night
