Raft Creek
Of the 42 traps placed out last night by the Elwah River,
two had Peronyseus in them and one a Zapus.
After leaving the Elwah we started going West slowly
while looking for old buildings which might
possibly have bats; many houses were investigated
but no bats were found. At one house The man
told us of an abandoned railroad tunnel
by Lake Crescent, We drove to it, the location.
Being about one mile South of the outlet of
Jype Creek from Lake Crescent. The tunnel was
very large and long and also very moist. No
bats were present. Two salamanders were
found near this locality. We continued on
highway 101, the Olympic highway, to Sol Duc,
Saypho, Beaver, Callwah R., Quets and
into Grays Harbor County where we are now
camped by the highway next to Raft Creek. Fifty
snap traps have been set out.
