Lemnaceae.
221.- Lemna polyrhiza (?).- Sheet 352.- Spec 1-14.- Surface of slough at
Camp 12,- below the big bend of the Truckee.- Aug. 21st 1867.- On
stagnant water. Found thickish, purple benedict, 2" by 1/2"- roundish
floriate, or short purshaped - contracting in drying. Flower & fruit not
seen.- Fruits about 5- mm. diametrically.
222.- Lemna (a.)
- Sheet 352.- Spec 1-9.- with the last, abundant.- Aug.
21st 1867.- 1" in diameter. Red- single. Found in flower & fruit.
Contracted in drying.- Fruits 5 mm. diametrically.
223.- Lemna (B.)
- Sheet 352.- Spec 1-25.- In warm springs at
Spanish Spring ranch, junctio south of Glendale. Temp 65-70°-
Dec. 8th 1867.- Found thin, about the size of the last, or smaller.
Red- single. Fruits with a single strong nerve fortunately. Flower
& fruit not seen.
