5th Hocklond Expedition to New Guinea 1956 March 4: Left Schulwild Airport, New York at 9:10 AM on TWA flight 35 (Constellation G) (Plane Bright) clear morning after a rainy night. Arrived Chicago in 3½ hours. Tons amount of snow on ground back from the coast. Much ice on Take Off 4hr 8½ hour flight from Chicago to San Francisco, against a very strong wind. Arrived in SF at 6 clock. Had limited views of the Party (25) in vicinity of Thrymane. The Temas, creased from near there, almost entirely crowded over. San Francisco temperature very mild after the rail coast. Short men walking in streets without jackets. Left San Francisco 11:10 am on Pan Am flight 737 (Tri-4 Constellation plane (Southern Moon). Arrived Honolulu 8:05 Pacific Bowl Time, 6:01 Honolulu Time. (Barnett 21) 51 passengers from S.F. only few plus from, Em 1:10, from Honolulu, and joining on to Sydney. "Hammel" Norgaard had a good dinner at the Hotel Edgewater (on Edgewater). Talk off at 10:10 PM. Had mouth with the above (?) for a few minutes after take off 8 hour back for a good landing at 6:10.
