June 6 Friday, vicinity of camp going up a ridge running west from camp that forms a divide between rio verde and Rio Lita drainage. Spectacular forest. Collected from 1800 - 1770 meters. as we walked up the ridge there were few palms & one tree fern (Larger too!) The forest became a little more open in that there were not as many tall trees and more smaller trees. Epiphytes were rare previously and species which were infrequent at 1700 were abundant at 1600/700m. 1500 meters upper montane - lower cloud forest vegetation 5059 Diplazium castale (Sw.) Presl. 111 Territorial form, rhizome parting horizontal the root at growing point. Lobely anchored in stuff. Height to 1.6 meters. 3 (left type '83) 5060 111 once shrub to 3 meters 3
