April 16. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co.,
were visible in N corner (probably
others out of sight in cover. In a
moderately heavy shower lasting only
a few minutes, the birds remained
standing there.
April 17. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co.
0830. Black & standing by fence in E-1,
ran down NE fence to join group in
E corner.
April 18. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co.
0823 In behavior lab pen - quail
under cover. 0900 Flushed 7 (or 8?)
birds from east corner (E-10), all
in a bunch.
April 19. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co.
0825 Birds in Behavior Lab pen out
of sight in cover, both in rain and
sunshine. At '0930', after working
on weeds on the other side of the pen,
I flushed 12 & from our clover patch
in E-7, and shortly thereafter 4
♂♂ followed by 3 [illegible] ♀♀,
including the one with injured
wing, from our clover in E-2
(Most likely included the ♀ first
flushed). Picked up Blues ♀
