W.N. Francis 1964 99. California Quail Dec.14. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. 1630. Took 3 birds in trap #2: * A? 18363 18368 * ? 58006, 1655. Flushed birds in the Behavior lab, pen from roosts when I re- installed hypothermograph. Both D-4 and E-9 roosts were in use, more in E-9; only the crippled ? (yellow) identified, roosting in D4. Dec.27. Counted 11 birds in Behavior lab. pen at 1235: 3 in E-10, incl. Green ?; 8 in A-10, incl. almost all the ?s. 1245 all birds walked over to E7 and E8, then at 1250 began to forage into the center of this pen. 1252 As a large plane passed over, 5 birds ran to cover in D-4 and 6 to brush pile in D-9 a few seconds later; then all assembled in E-10.
