154 adult males
85 immatures males
107 adult females, and
86 immature females;
also 10 unsexed adults and
are immature (wrigs only).
Additional unchoked birds brought
total to 448 birds for 98 hunters.
Nov.2. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County.
0825. Birds in Behavior lab, pen
under cover in fig & rain; count of
11 when disturbed. 0845. Flushed
a covey of 20-30 quail in the patch
of dried thistle and hemlocks just
outside of the quail enclosure.
Nov.9 Two 87 to center clearing
of Behavior lab, pen at 0915
less than 5 minutes after I left
the pen feeding on grain jilet
put out! The rest of the covey
joined after 1 minute. 11 birds
counted. A short burst of moder-
ately lean shower with gusty
winds had no effect at all on
their feeding. 0921 Six birds,
