Aug. 31. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County.
The 3 young birds remaining together as
they fed.
Sept. 4. Birds in the Behavior lab.
per flushed + flew in several
directions while I was working in
the pen. A young bird flushed
from A-4 as I was ceding +
flew violently into the top of
the pen + fell to the ground.
When I approached he got to his
feet + ran off slowly.
Sept. 7. 1012 Counted 10 birds in the
Behavior lab. pen, including 3
young. 1014. Five birds ran to
center of pen to feed, Green ?
and the 3 young remained feeding
for several minutes. A second
young can now be identified as ?,
but apparently several days behind
the first one noted, first indication
of survivors from Tub Brooks. 1015
Birds ran to cover when startled.
1023 Red ?, Yellow ?, and the older ?
juvenile to feeding in the center, soon
joined but the rest of the covey: 9
birds together, two ? noted near
