W. J. Francis 1964 California Quail Aug.25. Hastings Reservation, Monterey County. 1030. A group of 19, both adults + young, feeding in front of White house. 1032. A brood of 9 young emerged from fig bush to feed in front of Bell house, in company with an adult & , and the 9 with traces of & markings nearby. 1045. Birds in front of White house began to wander off via the gully - saw one brood of 6 attended by an adult &, another of 3 with two adults nearby. These birds are the older young - about 9-10 weeks compared to the 6 weeks of the 9 seen in front of the Bell house. 1425. Carmel Valley Road At junction of Cachagua Road saw a group of 4 adults with 2 young. Aug.26. Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co. 0638. No quail feeding near Bell house as there were yesterday, with a Cooper (or large Sharp-shinned) hawk hunting in the immediate area. 0844 Grayfield Road below Paloma. A small covey of quail in farmyard, one pair with 4 to 6 young, about 2 other full- grown birds (some may be this year's immatures, but no distinction could be made). 1150. McMillan Ranch, San Luis Obispo Co. Flushed about
