Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. same location as the birds just in- side the fence - presumably one of this family recently liberated. 0900 Spotted the wild covey in the grove of young eucalyptus just outside the west gate to the Bacharia Station, fairly well hidden in the ground cover. Jan. 14 Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. 0900 Counted 13 birds in the Ba- charia hab. pen - 12 hiding in east corner flushed as I approached, 1 other flushed later from the south corner. 0920 Several quail ran into Baccharis brush as I approached trap #2 to set and lay it. 16/10.
