The birds in this covey banded on
this two-day trapping only, now total
the following, by age & sex :
Adult ♂ - 7
Adult ♀ - 2
Imm. ♂ - 8
Imm. ♀ - 17 Total- 34
The above includes only three birds
released in the covey area, & the
figures will be used as a base for
calculating population from later captures.
Total Dec.-Jan. captures are
divided as follows, totalling - 51
Adult ♂ - 14
Adult ♀ - 3
Imm ♂ - 13
Imm ♀ - 21
Of these 7 were removed, leaving
44 Dec.-Jan. birds, 10 of which were
trapped in Dec. only & not recaptured
in the Jan. 9-10 period; compared
to 11 Dec. birds which were retrapped.
