W. J. Francis 1963 247. California Quail Oct. 16. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 4) Ad. ♀ YELLOW recapture. 5) Imm. ♂ #56626 recapture. When released this bird flew up to the fencing in the pen & clung near the top for a few seconds before returning to the ground - same behavior previously seen (but not noted), perhaps in the same bird. 6) Ad ♀ #56605 recapture. 1630. Two birds in trap in the pen - #56625 and 56626 ♂♂, recaptured. Oct. 18. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 0930. Birds in the Behavior lab. pen flew into the air with slight dis- turbance when I serviced the trap inside the pen, and several collided with the top and sides, though not very severely. Bait in the trap area had been used rather sparingly. Oct. 19. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. 1120 Took the following birds in the trap inside the Behavioral pen: 1) Imm. ♂ #56625, recapture. Released outside of the pen.
