W. J. Francis 1963. California Quail Sept. 27. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. Green brood now in nearly complete adult plumage, white edging below throat not quite complete. Green ♂ joined this group, which consists of 3 ♂ and 3 ♀. Two other ♂ also emerged, then saw Orange ♂ in D.2 and several other birds running into weeds as a passer-by startled all birds. 1734. Most of the birds are congregated in the east corner behind the large Eucalyptus showing no inclination to come into the open after being disturbed; ended observation. Sept. 30, Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 0520 One immature of Silver brood in the trap inside the pen, a ♂ by the presence of black feathers under the eye; weight 85gms. at age 7 weeks. Reset & baited trap. This bird gave the "Psen" distress call repeatedly while running about in the cage, the only time I have heard this yet.
