Sept. 4. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co.
morning along fence outside of B-10 and A-10.
1141 Adult pair plus two large immature
♂♀ (Orange ?) Keeping pace with birds
outside fence in A9 and A8. ♂3♀ and
4 chicks drank at water hole, then
were joined by Black ♀ in feeding around
the pan of grain in C-5 (some apparently
spilled. ♂5♀ came to water hole. All
Three other ♂♂ and Yellow ♀ are
foraging in A-9 with several immature.
1145 Silver family plus Black ♀ retreated
to cover. 1150 Total of ten birds
counted along SW fence, prob. only
are adult pair, or an extra ♂ also.
1156. Filled water hole, and
scattered ½ can of Pigeon grains in
cleared area in A3 and A4. Pan
of Hen Chow shows little consumption.
1637. About 8 large birds have
been seen along the SE fence. Silver
family (♂, ♀, 4 chicks) plus Black
♀ came from E-8 to water hole,
then fed in pan with Hen Chow in
CD-4. Yellow ♀ appeared below
water hole. 1646. ♂5♀ chased
Yellow ♀ away, Blade ♀ retreated
with ♂3♂, then all retreated to
weedy cover in C-8.
