0753. Still no more activity than an
occasional glimpse of 8 and young in
A-10. Her incubating nest in A-5.

The modified Bailey trap had a dead
junco and a dead half-grown quail
in the mesh part - the last record
of setting this was July 31, and it
was sprung before I left the station;
apparently the birds remained quiet
when the trap was sprung (I did not
see this occur), and I assumed
a junco had sprung it and escaped
through the trap door edge as has
frequently happened. Since 8 chicks
were seen with Green only 2 days ago,
this must be one of the 2 Orange chicks.
0945. Heard a loud assembly call outside
of the pen. I note that both broods
of 2 & 8 were seen Aug. 2 - the dead
one might be the third (Smaller) Orange
chick, or one that squeezed into the
closed trap & became entangled.
0955 Two 8's and some chicks noted
in the south corner, and another
