out; sky completely overcast at this time.
Orange + red males also noted no
females accompanying any of the males.

In pen 48 and 1 ♂ were patrolling
back & forth along upper fence, apparently
looking for an opening
March 17. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co.
1410 Five birds flushed from small
shrubby eucalyptus directly in
front of observation window. Pink ♀
found dead on ground with back
of neck opened to spinal column.
Band removed. 1445. Two males
standing motionless in N corner of pen,
other birds under cover.
Mar. 18. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co.
0840 About 5 birds in trap; exit
net insecurely fastened allowed all but
one to escape. Recapture ♀ 56605 re-
moved to pen in Behavior lab. Two
♂ and Black ♀ patrolling upper
fence.
