W.J. Francis 1963 California Quail July 19. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County, lected the extra egg, weight 9.1 gms. -later examination showed this egg to be perfectly fresh with no embryo development. 1900 Resumed Operations. Checked A-5 nest, still 3 eggs. 1912 Two half-gram chicks flew from in front of hut to C-8, then back to water-hole. No adults with these chicks. 1937 a ♀ perched on weeds in A-8 as the 2 chicks are feeding, and a pair along the fence in A-10. 1941 a ♀ feeding near the ♂ in A-8, 1943 a third ♂ along fence in C-10. 1953 Red ♂ and Yellow ♂ feeding in A-7 Orange family in B-8. 1955 Orange family passed water-hole and fed in center clearing: 1957 ♀3 ♂ crossed from C-8 to North corner. Orange ♂ Chased Red ♂, and all birds saw & flew into nearest cover. 1960 Red ♂ crossed clearing, gave several series of "chips" such as parents use to chicks, flew to top of instrument shelter for less than a minute, then flew into D-8 weed patch. Orange family meanwhile walked over to E-9 eucalyptus,
