Saw a & with about a dozen young chicks in central clearing as I approached, who went into cover as I entered. 1735 Single & running along sap fence. 1738 Pair with many chicks came up from C-9 to C-7, then into grand - later two Green & emerge from nearly same location. June 30, Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. 1847. φ3 & emerged from weeds in E-6 and ran rapidly to East corner. 1853 Red & came from weeds in D-8 into center clearing, then at 1856 ran rapidly to other side of D-4 eucalyptus. 1929 Red & ran at toward center, then broke around D-4 eucalyptus almost at once. 1936 φ3 & came from E-7 out to center clearing, then to B-7 eucalyptus. Heard two spilt calls at 1932, and a & came from B-7, then flew- aven to E-8. 1942. One & chased another across the pen to East corner, and both and forth chases could be glimpsed there, are spilt note heard.
