W.J. Francis 1963. California Quail. June 22. McMillan Ranch, San Luis Obispo Co. The latter were in juvenile plumage with no trace of down except on the head. The two groups united together, the ? with smaller chicks was seen to peck at her own (disciplinary?) and the larger group moved up hill as the small chicks went to water. 1027 a pair with 10 downy chicks, also only a few days old, and an adult pair foraging near the water trough. 1031. Another adult pair. 1036 Adult pair - possibly the same as the last 1043. Another adult pair from up-canyon. 1105. A single ? crossed hillside above the water trough.
