W.J. Franais 1963 California Quail June 12. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. Checked both nests, both hens in - cubrating. 1938 One ?ran from E-7 to D-9; and at 1940 another ? was feeding in E-7, then ? seen with him. At 1944 this pair retreated into cover in E-7, still feeding. 1950 Male from E-7 flew up into E-9 roost. 1958 a bird flew from C-10 into E-9 roost. Checked E-7 for nest - none found, no birds flushed here or from E-9 roost. June 13. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County. 1940 No quail seen a heard outside the Belairia lab. Both nests in the pen with ? incubating, no other birds seen a heard. June 16. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. 1925. Saw a ? in the road west of Belairia lab, heard a quail call in the vicinity of the gate, and saw another ? walking along the top of the quail pen. In the pen a bird flew from A-1 as I approached. 2 birds in the center had gone into cover when I entered the observation hut. 97.
