W.J. Francis 1963. California Quail May 23. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda County, to roost in Eucalyptus in D-4. 2003. Commotion in Eucalyptus in E-9, then one bird flew to ground, and then disappeared, fog too thick to see clearly where he went. May 24. Gillis Canyon, San Luis Obispo County, 1435. At Quail Restoration Project #7, (Iver's Windmill), saw a fair sized flock of half-grown young, just able to fly. These flew into a very large at trip lex clump. Several adults flew out at different times, with probably some duplication, but young birds would not flush. May 24. Devil's Den, Kern County, at 1934 the sun disappeared behind ridge to the west of very discern- at ion point, and at 1936 I saw two pairs of quail at the lower water drum, previously found to be empty, but with wet mud (showing bill holes, prob. of Mourning Doves) in the pan. A few seconds later a pair walked to the water drum area from across the ridge to the east. At 1938 another pair appeared, then four birds to-
