The Eucalyptus in E-9. the male
then flew to center pen to feed
and returned to the tree at
1935. The other two pairs went
into tall grass in E-6, and
behind smalla Eucalyptus in
E-4. At 2003 a ♀ went into
Eucalyptus roost in E-9, and a

by his activity) went into roost,
and out again in less than a
minute. At the same time
another ♂ went into roost, as
Red ran into grass. At 0816

May 16. Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co.
1330 to 1400 Cut weeds and investigated thick weeds & grass in the
pen in Behavior Lab. Flushed 3
birds in A-10 (only when I was within
less than 5 feet) and a pair in A-3.
Searched these areas more carefully,
but found no sign of nesting. Birds
extremely secretive on this very hot day.
