Strawberry Canyon, Alameda Co. approached the other two, made a rush at the Red 8, with head lowered, and drove him off about 10 feet, away from the Black 9 which had been associated with Green 8, but accompanying Red this morning. Green then resumed his rather inactive status while the other two continued running back & forth along the fence as the outside bird continued calling. 0840. Now over 12 minutes of consecutive "Cow!" calls from outside. 0845. Outside calls seemed to have ceased for the moment. 0847 One 'Cow!' call. These calls sound less loud and without the note of "urgency" heard earlier. 0851 'Black 9' fed on leaves (? Pimpernel ?) a few bites, then moved off to the vicinity of Green 8, leaving Red 8 alone; the latter also commenced feeding in Medicago patch, then resumed fence-running after a few bites. 0950 Returning to blo. but after an hour of weed- cutting, I disturbed all
