California Condor
Eben McMullan
July 3-1964
Word just now (6:15, A.M.) came over the Radio
that a serious brush fire that is raging in the
Saugus-Newhall area presently was started by a
stray bullet severing a high-power line. The fire
started yesterday afternoon.
The Saugus-Newhall area is about ten miles
south of the Sespe Wildlife area and is probably used
by Condor. That firing of Guns goes on continually
throughout the Southern California area is well documented.
The prohibition of shooting guns in most of
Los Angeles County is a result of this activity. This
is a serious factor in Condor Welfare.
