California Condor
Eben McMillan
25 June 1964
Now puts the flight of Condor, that come out of the
Santa Paula Canyon and Bear Heaven areas, directly over
hunting camps of hunters that have already proven beyond
any doubt that they will shoot at any large bird that comes
within their range of fire.
We returned to camp at sunset and dined as the last
sunlight tipped the high ridges. The Poor-will called close to
camp again just before darkness fell. Airplanes shuttled
back and forth on the S.F.-L.A. run over our camp. It was
warm again tonight. Mosquitoes were at work.
