Califomia condor
Eben Mcmillan
12 October 1963
The National Audubon Society, Conservation Resource Center at 2426
Bancroft Way, Berkeley 4, California sent me today, in the mail, a postcard
that had been mailed them on 30 September 1963, which confirmed an
observation made by one John Rensberger, Museum Scientist, Paleontology,
RM.3, Earth Science Bldg., University of Calif. Berkeley 4, Calif. of a
young condor feeding on carrion on the highway approximately halfway
between Logan Butte and Brothers in central Oregon. "It's plumage
was dark except for its tail, indicating a young bird!" so stated
Mr. John Rensberger in this card.
Jake Martins of La Panza Ranch told me today that Bud Zimmerman had
seen three condor up the river above the La Panza Ranch house about five
weeks ago. I will check on this tomorrow.
