California Condor Eben Inemillan Page 12 12-February-1963 People Condor - Condor - Condor - Weather. It was very mild - cloudy and threatening rain as I drove to Gene Rambo's ranch on the Cholame flats, 8 miles N. West of Cholame, at 9:30 A.M. Gene and son Greg were hanging a wooden gate at his corrals. Gene said he had observed one adult Condor in the canyon back of his house last Sunday February 10-1963. This bird when first seen was flapping a good deal as it flew about in a light drizzle of rain. Gene didn't say if he saw what direction it took in leaving. Gregory Rambo said he saw Three Condor on January 27th near the old Charlie Maule cabin in the canyon behind the Rambo Home, Gene Rambo also saw Two adult Condor on the west ridge above the Charlie Maule cabin on January 12-1963. I recruited Gene Rambo to act as watchman and recorder for any observations of Condor he should make in the future and to call either [illegible] or [illegible] collect should anything unusual show up. He also is to go with us to the east side of the San Joaquin Valley next Tuesday and set up a watch among cowmen and packers he is acquainted with in that area. I returned home at 2:30 P.M.. Heavy rain started falling at 6:30 P.M. and continued on into the night.
