A meet gan at shandon at 6:15 A.m. joining
him in driving to Santa Barbara, Calif. where we
arrived at 9:00 A.m. supposed to meet with the
National Forest Service people in Santa Barbara at
10:00 a.m. We spent the time in between with
Waldo Abbott and Cliff Smith at the Museum of
Natural History of S.B., discussing matters
relative to the Condor study. We went to the
office of Mr. Hansen, superintendent of
U.S. Forest Service Los Padres National
Forest and his assistant, Mr. Crouch, at
10:00 A.m., where we went over matters
relative to our relationship with these people
during the course of the Condor Study.
Hansen & Crouch, according to their testimony,
had not as yet received word from Carl
Buckheitler of Nat. Audubon Society, even
Though Gan had received his Carbon Copy
Last Saturday Friday Feb. 8-. This, as
expected, caused some misunderstanding to
begin with but these were quickly straightened out
and a further constructive meeting was the
result of our trip.
A severe storm lasting since last
Friday evening and only clearing this morning,
has been general throughout the Condor
range. Three inches of rain falling at
Paso Robles and a like amount on down
the coast to Los Angeles. One inch fell in
Soda Lake area of Carrissa Plains. Heavy
rains fell in the Fillmore area. The Temperatures
have been mild throughout the storm
