-California Condor- ben mc millan 8.Feb.1963 light Showers fell at Sunrise. some clearing Took place at 8:00 A.M. and continued throughout the day but high thin clouds were in evidence all day. The wind was west, brisk at times. The Temperature mild throughout the day, but becoming cooler in the evening. Cliff Smith and Waldo Abbott spent the night with us, last night. Waldo Abbott, who leads the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Bird Group on their field trips and Cliff Smith is Librarian at the Santa Barbara Museum of Nat.History. Smith is also a botanist of good repute. Abbott told me of seeing 3 Condor circling above the Museum buildings in Santa Barbara, Calif. One day about Two Years ago. Abbott also told me of two Condor that remained about the Segwick Ranch during January of 1955 These Condor remained about the area where a heifer had died. On one occasion when his bird group went to see these Condor they flew from a tree near where they had remained for for a week and flew high into the air Towards Big Pine Mountain only to return To the beginning area after a flight that took them nearly To the limit of view of binoculars.
