california Condor Eben Mcmillan 23 September 1963 32 Condor last year. I will look this Gib mckenscy up at the next opportunity. Jantzen informed me that the helpers he is responsible for and which are now all in the White Wolf, Alvin part of the Tejon Ranch property, are commencing to abort Premature Calves. He has seen several in the last few days that lost their calves. The Rain of last week that drove me home from the Edison area has sprouted grass in the higher foothills, especially in the White Wolf area where some germination of grass seeds had probably been triggered from the cloud-burst that hit this and the Tehachapi area in August 8th period. The field of Barley that was harvested by Boy Williams, in White Wolf Pass, and was eaten to the ground, after harvest, by the Tejon Ranch helpers, is now, grass green, and covered with volunteer barley that is more than three inches high. No large birds observed in White Wolf, Bakersfield- Wasco, Lost Hills, or Bitterwater Valley. One Golden Eagle was noted hunting east of the Adam Grant home in Choice Valley, inside San Luis Obispo County. Today I cut from the Newspaper The Fresno Bee at Sunday, 22 September 1963, an article headed, Tipton Rancher is cleared of cattle neglects, in which a Tipton, Tulare County, Rancher had been taken to court by the Tulare County Humane Society for willfully starving cattle on overgrazed land. This item is entered as specimen No. 10- Eben Mcmillan.
