California Condor Eben McMillan 8 September 1963 The following is a copy of Notes sent me by Cualyn Farnsworth relative to her observation of condor on the following dates. 9/2/63 = 10:25 A.m. one adult soaring at south end of Fulton road near Lumneau Creek. 9/3/63 = 10:17 A.m. one adult soaring over same area as above 9/3/63 = 9:55 A.m. one adult soaring over (Farnsworth) house. 9/3/63 = 5:05 P.m. Two adults soaring North of house, One Took off from feeding on still born calf. 5:10 P.m. both left in direction of Gilliam spring, N.W. all of these birds smooth wings - NO "gaposis" 9/8/63 mid-morning John Rofer reported two over Bowen Hill, 9/8/63 = 4:40 p.m. Fifteen condor, high, circling east of barn. Two groups, Seven in one and Eight in another. left to Northeast very high. Saw one young but could not identify any individuals. 9/8/63 = 5:10 P.m. Three circling over waterhole flat. May have been some of big group. 9/8/63 = 6:40 p.m. - Six roosting in bent pine. Three in spindly dead pine several [illegible] yards East of bent pine - and one in bushy green pine on west end of same hill. In the group of fifteen saw one individual bird make four dives at another. Both flipped over when close together.
