virulency of many diseases that offer no problems on well balanced ranges. Burrall Reed thinks the Cattle disease that takes so many young unborn cattle in the southern San Joaquin Valley, and known as Foothill Abortion, is a result of poor range condition. Returning through Walker basin in the late evening I Saw, and heard, a pair of Golden Eagle near the Pass between Walker basin and Caliente Wash. Walker Rankin saw Condor in Walker Basin about 1931. There were 13 Condor came at this time and fed on a death heifer To the North of the Rankin Ranch house. The Condor left the bones of this carcass clean of any meat, and pulled OUTSIDE the hide. These were the Only Condor that Mr. Walker Rankin ever Saw in the Walker basin, even though he has lived over 75 Years here in the basin. About 15 years ago Walker Rankin saw a large flock of Condor in the rock-pile field of Tejon Ranch about five miles West of Caliente. He thought there Could have been fifty Condor in this gathering. Again, this rockpile field of the Tejon ranch seems to attract Condor. Is it that more People Pass this Rock-Pile field and therefore see Condor that frequent other areas as often, or, is it that something attracts Condor to this Particular area. I camped at the mouth of Caliente Wash, one quarter mile south of old 466 highway. The Caliente was still running lots of water most of which was coming from the Zachachapi area.
