California Condor Eben McMillan 16 July 1963
-Gliders-
Noted that the Tow Plane always led the glider
out to the west over the Bear Mountain area and the
the gliders remained over that area until returned
to return to the landing field that is on the North edge of
Town of Tehachapi. When returning to the landing
the gliders never drifted East of the field except
when swinging in to actually land. Prevailing
winds probably hamper gliders movement to
drift East of Tehachapi Town.
The observation of Sam Cuddaback and Jim [illegible]
where the 12 Condor were grounded overnight, and
the flight pattern of gliders over Tehachapi Valley
tend to suggest this valley would not be a
favorable place for soaring birds or planes,
should they be forced to move from East to West
in this Valley.
In late afternoon I drove through Cummings [illegible]
and taking The Comanche Point Road progressed down
into the San Joaquin valley. Several Buzzards were
seen along this route and a pair of Young Gold
Eagle were playing on the updrafts of wind over
one of the points overlooking the Town of Arvin
