in 1960, intending to continue on this trail to the end of
navigation, but heavy damp fog soon obliterated everything,
we returned to the pickup truck, picking out a spot where
we would brush out a spot to watch for nesting activities
on the rock ledge leading down Northward from Whitacre
the decent. We met Jack Gains on the road Near
Squaw flat, where he was engaged breseeing road grading
operations. We agreed with him that the three of us would
back into the Hole-in-the-Wall on June 5-6 and 7. We
also agreed to meet Jack at his home, the next morning, and
providing he had time, he would take us into the Cold Water Canyon
the Sespe where condor are supposed to nest.. Back at our
camp pan and a discussed the happenings of the bay
and retired at dusk as a poor-will called from
the brush covered hills to our Eastward. The Fog
prevailed until dark.
