Carrots, They
drink lots of wine that costs the Sheep owner: $1.25 per gallon. This shepherd leaves his trailer at sunrise and follows the sheep all day long with little rest until he takes them to the bed ground in late evening. He told me the sheep travel much more than is usually the case if they have plenty of grass. He must return to Spain after the end of his 3 year contract--the $600 air flight to and return is taken from his wages.
I talked to this shepherd's brother who was caring for a flock of sheep nearby. His conditions were the same.
No Coyotes or Foxes, nor Wildcats, are ever observed by those shepherds in this area. They did say that many Coyotes, Foxes and Wildcats are in the Sierra region near Mono Lake where they go with the sheep in summer.
