Gymnogyps californianus June 13, 1946 Hopper Canyon, Calif. again. None yet tried to feed (11:05). 5 stood within: 10±' of calf, 3± about 50' uphill. 11:09, all took off again. By 11:08, 10 condors in the tree 200' yde. N. of carcass, a clumsy swim. on top top. (11 at 11:09½; 5 adults). :10½, 1 adult + 2 vultures at carcass, others landing, mostly 50±' uphill. Adult at calf from 20' downhill flopping as an other landed by it. A raven jumped from calf as condor approached. 11:14, 3 adults pulled at different areas - a raven + vulture settled + edged around them. :15½, 2 ad. + 1 vult. about 6' from carcass +1 raven apparently feeding. The carcass stood around, occasionally pecking or wrestling heads, with one another. The raven fed, 3 condors standing 6±' away facing downhill, back to carcass. Raven left (11:19) leaving the 4 condors, at least 13 perch- ed in Near Roast Trees. 11:20 - all off suddenly again leaving no birds at carcass. :20½, 2 turkey vultures slightly by calf. 11:25, 2 condors landed 30±' downhill from carcass, then others. One swim. be- gan feeding almost immediately. The 2 vultures stood about 6' away from condors, quietly. 11:28, at least 6 (3 ad.) within about 8' of calf, one swim. about 50' downhill, quiet. :29, adult + this min. took off - others seem to stand alert but not feeding. 11:32, 8 or 9 condors standing near carcass, most
