Gymnogyps californianus June 12, 1946 Hopper Canyon, Gli.t. carcass, the other 10' downhill. 11:14, the vultures took off; one raven + a fourth imm. circled low over the bait. 11:15, two adults landed + chased the imm. from calf. 1 imm. took off. The perched adult as before with one imm. in same tree 20' below. 11:19, a third immature + a third adult landed near calf. Perched adult was now on same branch as imm. + apparently feeding it - at least facing + imm. wings flopping much as if being fed. 11:23, 5 adults at carcass, 1 or 2 ravens, 1 or 2 vultures, + 2 or more immatures. 11:25, 8 adults + 3 imm. within 50' of carcass but only 2 or 3 apparently close enough to feed on it. Minimum 9 adults + 4 imm. present. 11:30 - adult + imm. side by side in tree together still. 11:31, a dark imm. perched in dead Bo. about 200 yds. N. of carcass. 11:33, one adult nipped another - the latter took off, then nopper, then all off. I saw 9 circling near Rock Ridge, 1 over Parking Knoll, + 2 perched. 11:35, a second imm. atop the near tree; I saw one cando stop Flat Co. Too. 11:39, two adults alighted in tree with the 2 imm., + at least 4 adults soared low over Big Meadow. 11:40, a third adult alighted in the tree - a perched adult flew 8' to another branch to note that the perch.
