Gymnogyps californianus June 7,1946 Hopper Canyon, Calif. 9:13, still 3 visible at Arundell Ridge - 2 atop Flat Ps. took off simultaneously as another passed 20' away. 9:18, 6 condors soaring low over Arundell Ridge - more visible perched. 9:23, 5 perched & one soar- ing low over trees; 4 perched in one green Ps., highest Tree on the ridge (near Flat Ps.). Breeze light now - 4 air warmer. 9:28, 5 visible perched; there had been some shifting - 2 on Flat Ps. now 4-2 in the higher tree. 9:39, I counted at least 6 - possibly 8 - at Arundell Ridge. Two soared E. down the canyon. 9:42, counted 10, 9 perched, on Arundell Ridge. Three were atop Flat Ps. and 2 (or 3) in lower branches. Perhaps the 5 that rose earlier went for a drink & returned to roost. 9:48, I saw at least 5 soaring over Arundell Ridge area as if heading toward Big Cove. "Rising time" about 9:50. Two chased, flopping & rising, several times. 9:55, I could spot now, soaring or perched, so hiked toward Old Cabin. At 10:05 I saw 1 soaring near Onder Cliff. 10:10, two adults came E. over the Rim near Small Mdw. & glided down into Hopper Basin - possibly #13 nest pair. 10:15, I saw 1 perched on Flat Ps. & another soaring over Arundell Ridge - this one later circled over Spring Mdw. I arrived at Old Cabin at 10:30 & saw 2 perched in trees on Arundell Ridge. Light W. breeze. 10:38 - Two chased low over Arundell Ridge & I saw 1 perched in dead Ps. there. I hiked on to -
