Gymnogyps californianus August 16,1948 To Mr. Fillmore, Ventura Ca. much lately but May 8 had seen up to 5 at once at Hopper Rion, including adults & immatures, + figured about 9 condors total there (some in Big Cove area). We drove to Hopper Canyon & visited Eugene Percy. He & son Stephensaw 3 condors a few days ago perched in 2 dead big saw spruce in head of Wasiily Canyon. Water this year is low in Hopper Creek (Dry at Cada Falls?). August 17 & 18/1948 Hopper Ranch, Ventura Ca. In 2 days at the ranch, not going into Wasiily Canyon, we saw no condors.
