Gymnogyps californianus February 18, 1948 Hopper Canyon, Ventura Co. saw imm. (?-same?) stillor before.). At 2:30 I reached car. I saw then 3 condors circling together over the head of Models Canyon about 3 miles east of Happen ranch house. These worked slowly to- ward Bally as if the birds were returning from Tapo Ridge or some such area toward Hopper Canyon; on this way "home". Now at least 15 seen today. April 23, 1948 El McMillan Ranch, San Luis Obispo Co. I questioned El McMillan about sheep distribution. He said the sheep in the foothills near Coalinga now were probably on Carrizo Plain S. of Soda Lake in winter (Elis great great (?) uncle had raised sheep on Carrizo Plain about 1950 (?)) By December of a normal year, El said, the sheep were around Blackwell's Corner for shearing & lambing. Carl Twisselman's sheep were generally near Tomblor Ranch & Santa Maria Pass in winter, El said. These facts seem to indicate favorable condor food (sheep) conditions near Carrizo Plain in winter - but for condors, El thought that Carl Twisselman had a record of 5 condors for February of this year. From many occurrences, and lack of them, El believes the condor flight line from McCheaney Mtn. is straight out nearby over Nulibard Hill to the Tomblor Range, thence NW up Bitterwater Valley. Condors seen from Els Ranch & home (near Palo Bria Pass) many times, but very rarely over the San Juan River west of Led Bella or
