oford 33/3 Gymnogyps californianus May 28, 1947 Berkeley, Calif. Castan of Santa Maria is acquainted with Wildmoun. June 15/1947 Drove from Delano via "Retroph Corner" to a hilltop Famoro about 10 miles E. of McFarland. From there I had watched cardos last year. Squirrel holes showed evidence of poisoning this year - perhaps a month ago. We saw scarcely a single squirrel or turkey vulture. There was a fair N. breeze at 10:25; sky cirrus overcast (thin) & temperature 90°+. I saw 2 single turkey vultures. At 10:40 I saw 1 carder circling 100' over the McFarland road no 2± miles E. of "Retroph Corner". It circled & rose, to 500', then soared E. with occasional wing dips until about 1 mile W. of Mt. Posa. Then it circled & rose with 1 turkey vulture & then apparently continued southward (10:50). By 11:15 we saw no more carders. We drove to Fountain Springs, & later to Walter Richelson's place near Porterville, - I saw carders at both of these last year summer - but saw no carders. June 17, 1947 Mr. Cholame, San Luis Obispo Co. With Jan McMillan & Mary K., drove up the Cholame- Parkfield road and at 8:30 saw 2 soaring carder. Sky clear, no breeze, warm. Jan & I watched
