Gymnogyps californianus July 27, 1946 Bakerfield, Calif. may also have some condor information. The Indians around Bakersfield, the Yokutumne, had a condor dance & song & story, said Lotta. Lotta also said that at Canfield Ranch between Bakersfield & Maricopa he saw 3 condors on a carcass in May, & [illegible] others in air there. August 22, 1946 N. Castle Mtn, Monterey Co. Allie Lewis, who lives near Turkey Flat & rides the hills near there, said he saw 3 condors at a water trough about 2 months ago - I rather doubt this as it sounds like a story he told me before. He said the condors were on trough & he at first thought they were catching frogs. Aug. 24, 1946 Castle Mtn, Kings Co. Spent the 23 & 24th hunting deer in the Castle Mtn. area including the cliff tops at head of Arrayo Pinos, & looked down several times on the coast trees there. The trees had bare whitewashed branches where the condors formerly perched, but I saw no condors during this visit. There were about 150 cattle on the mountain above Dark Hole spring, many in poor condition. August 31, 1946 N. Porterville, Calif. I drove up the Tulare River to home of Walter Richardson, 5 miles ESE of Porterville,
