Gymnogyps californianus July 25, 1946 Hopper Canyon, Calif. mile from + in plain sight of self, but apparently did not see it. 10:27, an imm. (est. 2 yr.) circled 1/4 mile NE of me, then over Rim, then headed N. 10:28, no adult in highest Near Roost Tree, but one 100+ yds. down from it + another in a tree 100+ yds. further down. The upper took off, circled 100+ over the blunt & blind, then glided low over Rock Ridge & circled there (10:30). The other took off about 10:30 & glided fast down into Water Tank Canyon, turned on circle, + disappeared heading N. as if to alight in cliffs at N. side of Water Tank Canyon appx. opposite foot of Rock Ridge (have seen this before - nest?). 10:41, one soared 5. about 300' over me; two circled low over Big Meadow, + I saw 2 now perched in Near Roost Tree (5, all adults). One or two air- [illegible] feet down at times; one wandered off over Porcupine Knoll. (10:47). Fair W. breeze, sky 2/10 cumulus. 10:48, all 3 with legs down, 2 circling low over carcass (100+)' & below tops of Near Roost Trees. 10:59, the two landed in sears at this height of these roost trees, so 7 perched within 1/4 mile of carcass at 10:50 (to windward of it). Cool now - perhaps 70°F. 10:59, one of highest pair took off + circled about over car- cass & blind. Lowest left about 11:01, + next to lowest about 11:02 - to? I saw 1 adult perched on top's [illegible] top of a stub about 1/2 mile SE of carcass - this
